LandAmerica Receives "Partnership
Award"
October, 1999
LandAmerica received an Award of Excellence in the prestigious
"Partnership Awards" program conducted by Beyond
Computing magazine. The award was based on LandAmerica's
successfully integrating IT systems following a major corporate
restructuring. Jan Alpert, president, and G. William Evans,
executive vice president, accepted the award.
This annual program recognizes successful collaboration
between the information technology and the business side
of an enterprise. The winning organizations attained increased
revenues, decreased operating expenses, improved customer
relations or enhanced productivity through the use of cutting-edge
IT and e-business applications.
At LandAmerica collaboration between IT departments and
the business units addressed some key issues posed by the
merger of Commonwealth® Land Title, Lawyers Title®
and Transnation® Title in 1998. One of the first steps
was to prioritizes the company's numerous internal and external
IT challenges. The completion of a Wide Area Network (WAN),
as well as several support systems for title and escrow
operations, was critical to the merger. "Through partnership,"
Alpert sums up, "we have accomplished more in the last
two years than we had in the previous ten."
